How do I exercise an Equity Options contract?
Long in the money Options positions will be automatically exercised on its expiry date in accordance with the CommSec Automatic Exercise terms unless we have accepted a request you have made to not automatically exercise the option.
If you wish to exercise an option before its expiry date (and it is eligible to exercise early), you can do so by contacting the CommSec Options Desk via telephone prior to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday Sydney time for the Options contract to be exercised on the day.
Please note: There are two different exercise styles for exchange traded options traded on ASX. American style, which means the option can be exercised at any time prior to the expiry; and European style, which means the option can only be exercised on the expiry day.
